EnergiaPura Maglia cut-resistant 3/4 thermal trousers

Cut-resistant clothing protects athletes from cuts from ski edges or other sharp objects in the event of a fall or impact. The development of these garments was requested by the FIS (International Ski Federation) due to the increasing number of serious accidents involving cuts during races and training. The innovation is linked to a combination of the technical properties of the fabric and the freedom of movement of the garments, which do not hinder elite-level athletic performance. The (thick) protective panels on the 3/4-length trousers are removable if desired. This does not affect the cut-resistant performance.

The garments are certified EN 388: 2004 Cut Resistant LEVEL 3 and recognized by the FIS through an official LABEL that corresponds to the tests of the International Federation

It's important to wear 3/4-length cut-resistant trousers correctly to ensure they provide the necessary protection. The lower section of the trousers consists of an elastic Lycra band: this should cover the calf and then be pulled over the liner inside the ski boot. This way, the Maglia trousers protect the legs down to the plastic edge of the ski boot. In this way, the cut-resistant material fulfills its purpose of total protection, while also remaining taut and preventing it from riding up and exposing the calf during activity. This solution offers even greater comfort and convenience to the 3/4-length trousers, allowing for the necessary adjustment for athletes of the same size but with different leg shapes and lengths. Cut-resistant trousers must absolutely meet this requirement of complete leg coverage down to the ski boot: the Lycra portion does not protect against cuts and is intended to remain within the edge of the ski boot. If the leg thickness does not allow for this requirement, a different size of trousers that meets these requirements should be worn. When purchasing, it is always advisable to try on the garment together with the ski boots to check that the Lycra gaiter actually remains secured inside the liner after the ski boot shaft is closed and to test that the trousers do not ride up and leave the calf exposed during bending movements of the legs.
